As South Florida prepares for the potential arrival of Hurricane Irma, make sure take care of your gate & gate operator. Follow these three simple steps to give your family the best chance to stay safe & to minimize property damage.
1. Open your gate all the way to ensure that, no matter what happens to your fence and gate, you are able to get out once it is safe. After a storm you may be without power for a couple of days, so make sure the gate is on manual operation mode.
2. Turn off the motor to protect it from flooding or power surges that may cause electrical damage.
3. Secure the gate to the fence in several places, making sure the bindings are strong enough to keep the gate in place as storm winds push & pull on it.
